Ruoqi Huang is a passionate UTEA Research Student at the University of Toronto studying behavioural mechanisms of memory and the effects of ageing on memory. Her research interest roots in the ageing population, from healthy ageing to patients with memory deficits, as she strives to understand the mechanisms of memory loss better and improve the living quality of the elderlies. Her recent project investigates the behaviour pattern of encoding in the healthy ageing population

In her spare time, Ruoqi plays for the University of Toronto Varsity Blues women’s fencing team, while obtaining the “T-holders Academic Excellence Award” in 2020 for her extinguished academic performance as a student-athlete. In addition, Ruoqi has been actively volunteered at long-term care homes and hospitals to help the elderly. Ruoqi is also a Student Alzheimer’s Alliance member at the University of Toronto (SAAUT). In addition, she actively participates in event organizations to raise public awareness of Alzheimer’s Disease and how sports can have positive impacts on memory.

Ruoqi is a huge fan of bird watching, hosting the ornithology instagram page, and being a member of the Toronto Ornithological Club.
